Linda Gilliam Obituary

"Missing you is a heartache, which will never go away.”

Linda Diann Gilliam, a daughter of the late James Henry Gilliam Sr. and Clara Lee Gilliam, began her journey through life on Wednesday, August 24, 1955, in Emporia, Virginia.

Linda was educated in the public schools of Northampton County, North Carolina; graduating from Northampton County High School in June 1974. She matriculated at Halifax Community College of Weldon, North Carolina, being enrolled in the Nursing Program.

Linda’s love for assisting others, not only lead her to pursue certification in Nursing, but also became employed with the Northampton County School System, as a Bus Monitor and Substitute Teacher for the exceptional children. She was also an active participant in the Parent Involvement Program at Seaboard Coates Elementary School, under the leadership of Principal Willie Brown.

Linda loved her family! Nothing brought her more joy, than spending quality time with family and friends. She also enjoyed working in her puzzle books and coloring books.

Wings... Are carved surfaces that life...Wings enable you to soar beyond all your self imposed restrictions and take you to the lofty heights you dare to dream of. Wings can offer protection and comfort, as in “under one’s wing.” Wings remind us of the angels that guard and guide us from above, and of those angels that walk among us. Anything is possible, when you have wings. On Tuesday, February 2, 2021; while in the care of Northampton Nursing Rehabilitation Center, Jackson, North Carolina, Linda gained her heavenly wings.

Treasured memories of love will forever be bound within our hearts, as we pass her to God’s keeping and care are: two children, James Gilliam (Latisha) and Bryant Gilliam both of Garysburg, North Carolina; four grandchildren; four sisters, Gwendolyn Lloyd of Garysburg, North Carolina, Clara Balmer (Larry) of Maryland, Sandra Wiggins (Larry) and Nora Gilliam both of Murfreesboro, North Carolina; sister-at-heart, Shirley Ellsworth of Seaboard, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
