Lonnie 'Randy' Williams Obituary

Memories are treasures no one can steal. Death is the heartache nothing

can heal. Some may forget you now that you are gone, But we shall

remember you no matter how long.

Lonnie Randolph Williams, son of the late Auta Jerman Williams, began his journey through life on Sunday, June 9th, 1946, in Northampton County, North Carolina. Early in life, he accepted Christ and joined Saint John Missionary Baptist Church in Garysburg, North Carolina. As his faith journey continued, he later united in Christian fellowship with Mount Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, North Carolina.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Lonnie passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025, at the age of 79. He lived a life defined by kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to the people he loved. Lonnie was a man of resilience and humor, whose presence could warm any room he entered.

He shared his life with Wanda Mae Tann, and together they built a blended family, bound not only by blood but by love, guidance, laughter, and a deep sense of security. Lonnie was escorted to the gates of Heaven by one of God’s angels to reunite with those who preceded him in death: his wife, his mother, his brother Thomas Williams, his sister Sarah Bowden, and his great-grandchild Jordan Williams.

Lonnie’s memory will be forever cherished by his children: Jessica Williams (Doug), Tiffany Williams (Ulysses) of the home, Jacqueline Tann-Neal (Kevin) of Jackson, North Carolina, Wanda Williams (Tony) of Seaboard, North Carolina, Lisa Williams (Bobby), and James Williams, Sr. (Catina) of Weldon, North Carolina, and Jermaine Tann (Barbara) of Rich Square, North Carolina. He also helped to lovingly raise his grandson Tremaine Williams of the home.

He leaves behind grandchildren: Keonta Williams and Deondray Williams of Seaboard, North Carolina; Markina Robinson, Markin Robinson, Shakiyla Johnson, and James Williams, Jr. of Weldon, North Carolina; Corey Neal (Kayla), Kaniya Neal, and De'Quan Tann, Sr. of Jackson, North Carolina; Iyana Tann of Rich Square, North Carolina; and Karmane Williams of Greensboro, North Carolina (Dannie), Michael Robinson, Jr. of New Mexico (Drea), and Za’Naye Terry of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. He was also blessed with seventeen great-grandchildren, including three who were especially close to him: Ranijah, Shiyla, and Ronald.

Lonnie is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Among them was his brother-at-heart, Jeffrey Coggins, with whom he worked on the farm for many years. From time to time, Lonnie also dabbled in security work with Powell Security.

His life, full of grace and quiet dignity, touched many, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
