Lucy Mae Patterson, daughter of the late Susie Patterson Watson began her journey through life on Friday May 1, 1942 in the Bull Hill Community of Jackson (Northampton County), North Carolina.
Lucy was educated in the Northampton County Public School System; graduating from Gumberry High School in Gumberry, North Carolina. In search of better opportunities, she relocated to Englewood, New Jersey. While living there, she completed her course studies and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. Lucy spent her life helping others in her various places of employment and she went on to retire after many years of service from Wood Crest Health Care Center, New Milford, New Jersey.
While living in Englewood, Lucy united in Christian fellowship with Community Baptist Church, where she attended and served faithfully until 2021, when she returned to her native home of Jackson, North Carolina.
“After the clouds, the sunshine; after the winter, the spring; After the shower, the rainbow; for life is a changeable thing. After the night, the morning, bidding all darkness cease, After life’s cares and sorrows, the comfort and sweetness of peace.” On Wednesday, July 27, 2022, while in the care of Northampton County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lucy quietly transitioned from this earthly life, until sweet eternal rest. In addition to her mother, Lucy was preceded in death by: two brothers, Johnny Patterson and Paul Watson and three sisters, Mary Patterson, Bessie Phillips and Hazel Patterson.
“Your life was full of loving deeds, forever thoughtful of our special needs. Today and tomorrow, our whole life through, we will always love and cherish you.” Her sweet spirit, caring heart and generosity will long be remembered by all those whose lives she touched: her sister, Rose Belle (Curtis Belle, Sr.) of Voorhees, New Jersey; her brother, Pernell Watson of Jackson, North Carolina; her sister-in-law, Mary Rose Patterson of Jackson, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
