Today, we pause to pay tribute to the LIFE, LOVE and LEGACY of Mary L. Moody who was a loving, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
‘Marylene or Bang’, as she was affectionately known, graced the earth with her beautiful presence on Monday, May 26, 1952. She was born in Gaston ( Northampton County), North Carolina to the parentage of the late James Moody and and Sara Dozine Banks Moody. Mary soon matured into a sweet and compassionate lady. Her education was obtained through the Northampton County Public School System.
Mary believed in God; the Father Almighty, who created heaven and earth. She possessed strong faith in Christ and did not waiver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, always acknowledging his presence. Having God as an integral part of her upbringing, she accepted Christ, early in life, as her Lord and Savior.
As a beloved mother and grandmother, Mary enjoyed spending time with her family. She embraced the natural beauty of the world and had a strong passion for helping anyone she could. As a young woman, she enjoyed working on the farm, to help provide for her family. She loved watching soap operas and the news. Her smile, genuine personality and love will forever leave a permanent impression in the hearts of all she touched. To know her was to love her and she was known by many throughout.
“When peace like a river, attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll, Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul.” On Friday, July 30, 2021, while in the care of Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, North Carolina; God plucked a beautiful flower to add to his heavenly bouquet. Mary was escorted to the gates of heaven by one of the angels to join her family that preceded her in death: her parents; daughter, Karen V. Moody; brothers, Folandis Moody and Al Moody and sister, Catherine Harding.
May the winds of heaven blow softly and whisper in your ear, how much we love and miss you and wish that you were here. We who remain that continue to whisper to heaven words of love and remembrance as we pass her to God’s keeping are: daughter, Claudette Moody (David) of Petersburg, Virginia; ten grandchildren, Tasha, Crystal, Andrew (Tiara), Quentin (Shante), Webster, Doreatha, Calvin, Jalisa, Jasmine and David, Sr.; 28 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorrine Robinson of Garysburg, North Carolina and Emily Simmons (James) of Gaston, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, in-laws and friends.
