Moronica 'CoCo' Boone Obituary

Moronica Boone, affectionately known as 'CoCo,' transitioned to eternal life on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Born on September 22, 1983, to Ronnie Coleman, Sr., and the late Delois Ann Boone, Moronica was preceded in death by her grandparents, Theodore and Josephine Boone, Eddie and Alease A. Coleman and Willie Lee Harrison, and a special aunt, Dorothy ‘Sister’ Coleman Harrell.

Being reared in Northampton County, North Carolina, Moronica graduated from Northampton County High School - West in 2001 and later pursued her education at Halifax Community College, Weldon, North Carolina. She held various positions throughout her career and was most recently employed at Cracker Barrel in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

Moronica exuded a vibrant zest for life that could effortlessly illuminate any room. Her passion for cooking carried the cherished secrets from her grandma Josephine's kitchen. Renowned for her captivating smile, unwavering love for the Dallas Cowboys, and heartfelt compassion, Moronica was a special person who touched the lives of all fortunate enough to know her. She had a genuine habit of calling and checking up on her family and friends, embodying the warmth and care that endeared her to everyone around her.

Moronica's journey of faith led her to rededicate her life to Christ. She attended new membership classes at Faithful Band Baptist Church Pleasant Hill, North Carolina, under the divine guidance of Pastor Gregory L. Evans.

She leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of her adored sons, Le’Michael Ray ‘Michael’ and Thomas Levance ‘Tommie’ Whitaker. Moronica is survived by her father, Ronnie Coleman, Sr. (Roxie) of Garysburg, North Carolina; four brothers, Gregory Boone (Cynthia) of Hopewell, Virginia, Jamele Coleman (Lukieva) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Jermaine Coleman of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and Ronnie ‘Bud’ Coleman, Jr. of Newark, New Jersey. Additionally, she is survived by one sister, Tameka Simmons (Kevin) of Greensboro, North Carolina.

Her legacy extends to five nieces,  De’Asia, Maleisha, Zaniya, Jasmine, and Kennedy - and ten nephews, Isaiah (Destiny), Jordan, Corey Jr. ‘CJ’, Kamari, Kameren, Jamario, Jamele ‘Jay’, Shaw, Jayden, and Xavier. Moronica is also survived by one great-nephew, Kenneth ‘KR,’ and three great-nieces, Marsai, Kaelyn, and Ziyah.

She is also remembered fondly by a host of uncles, including: Milton Boone (Pat), Stanley Boone (Joyce), Donald Boone, Anthony Boone, Thomas Coleman, Ralph Coleman (Dorothy), Quincy Coleman (Sonia),  Shirley Coleman, Coley Artis (Jeanette), Joe Wilson Artis (Gwen), Josephine A. Faison, Maggie M. Harrison, Janie H. Reid, Carolyn Edwards (James), Yvette Edwards (Carnell) and Robert Greene (Shirley). Moronica's impact reaches beyond family, touching the lives of her god-daughter, Nyieashia Holmes, a special friend, Tommie Levance Whitaker, and his daughter, Tammie Latarsha Whitaker, as well as a multitude of other relatives and friends.

CoCo’s radiant spirit, enduring love, and cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace.
