Obituary

She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:  “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all!”

~ Proverbs 31: 26 - 29

Today we pause to pay tribute to the LIFE, LOVE and LEGACY of MOTHER BERNICE PARKER, who was a loving, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend.

Bernice graced the earth with her presence on Monday, May 23, 1932. She was born to the parentage of the late Harvey Deloatch and Rebecca Jane Anderson in Northampton County, North Carolina. Her education was obtained through the public schools of Northampton County.

Bernice soon matured into a sweet and compassionate lady. She believed in God; the Father Almighty, who created heaven and earth. She possessed strong faith in Christ and did not waiver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, always acknowledging his presence. Having God as an integral part of her upbringing, Bernice accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, early in life. She was a longtime member of House of Prayer #3, located in Halifax, North Carolina, where she was a Mother figure to all and served God to the fullest. Bernice’s fear of God, foresight, encouragement, care for others and love for her family, all led her to a life of enjoyment, honor and worth.

“After the clouds, the sunshine; after the winter, the spring; After the shower, the rainbow; for life is a changeable thing. After the night, the morning, bidding all darkness cease, After life’s cares and sorrows, the comfort and sweetness of peace.” On Sunday, September 3, 2023; God in His infinite wisdom, lifted Mother Bernice Parker from this world of sin, sorrow and pain to a place of eternal rest. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by: her siblings, Annie Eliza Vaughan, Pattie Deloatch, Virgie Deloatch, Lillie Deloatch, Lula Deloatch, James Henry Deloatch, Thomas Jefferson Deloatch, Lee Deloatch, Harvey Lee Deloatch and Earline Williams and a son-in-law, Willie Lee Price.

Your life was full of loving deeds, forever thoughtful of our special needs. Today and tomorrow, our whole life through, we will always love and cherish you. Her sweet spirit, caring heart and generosity will long be remembered by all those whose lives she touched. We who remain, struck by the bitter pain of death, but satisfied with the promise made by God, that He would wipe all tears from our eyes: two daughters, Mary Frances Price and Cynthia Carol Carter; her grandchildren, Angelia Powell (Wilson), Douglas Price, Patricia Reese (Robert), Teresa Speller (George), Willie Lee Price, III (Latonya) and Brian Price (Jessica); a host of great-grandchildren; great, great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
