Nancy Elizabeth Edwards Parker, daughter of the late Willie and Elizabeth Earley Edwards, was born on Sunday, April 10, 1949 in Northampton County, North Carolina. She was educated in the Northampton County Public School System; where she graduated from Willis Hare High School of Pendleton - class of 1967.
As life progressed, Nancy was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Calvin Parker in March 13, 1967. This union was blessed with three sons. In the early 1970s, she relocated to Durham, North Carolina, where she lived for over twenty years. In 1992, Nancy relocated again to Lake City, South Carolina, where she spent her final years. Nancy was employed at the Lake City Sav-Way for many years and was affectionately known as ‘Ms. Nancy’ by her co-workers and customers, who especially acknowledges her for finger-lickin, fried chicken”. She was admired by all who came in contact with her.
On Sunday, October 18, 2020, while in the care of McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina, God plucked a beautiful flower to add to his heavenly bouquet. Nancy was escorted to the gates of heaven by one of the angels to join her family that preceded her in death: her parents; husband, ‘Tom’ and son, Carlos Parker, who passed away shortly after birth.
We thought of you today, but that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday and the day before that too. We think of you in silence and often speak your name. Now all we have are memories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake, with which we’ll never part. God has you in His keeping and we have you in our hearts: two sons, Calvin (Connie) and Anthony (Tara); four grandchildren, Tiffany, Shantia, Anthony ‘Ajay’ and Kyree Parker; three great-granddaughters, Tyla, Ryan and Kyrisha; four brothers, Willie, Charles, Jasper and Calvin Edwards; six dedicated in-laws, Willie, Samuel, Fenton, James, Dorothy and Angela Parker; one godson, Deshaun ‘Boo’ Thaxton; sister-at-heart, Mary Polite; a host of nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
