Natalie 'Nat' Cumbo

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge,

shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”

Natalie Cumbo was born on Saturday, December 24, 1955 in Conway, North Carolina to the parentage of the late John and Wilma P. Cumbo, Jr.

Natalie was educated in the Northampton County Public School System, graduating from Northampton County High School - East, Class of 1974. She matriculated at Roanoke Chowan Community College for 2 years.

Early in life, Natalie accepted Christ and was baptized at Second Baptist Creeksville Church, where she remained a member until her demise. As a youth, she sang in the choir, attended Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.

Natalie’s career began at Rollic Manufacturing Company, where she was employed for several years. As life progressed, she became a caregiver to both her parents. Natalie was known throughout her community for her humble spirit. Her passion was children. She operated a private daycare in her home and cared for seven of her nieces and nephews. Her love and care also extended to her ten great-nieces and nephews. Natalie loved children and the children loved her. She had a special bond with each of them and spoiled them all in her own special way. In addition to caring for her parents and children, Natalie also enjoyed cooking, canning, making preserves, gardening, sewing and word games. Being born on Christmas Eve, of course her favorite holiday was Christmas; during which time she exhibited her love for decorating.

On Friday, May 19, 2023; while in the serenity of her home, surrounded by her sisters and brother, Natalie quietly entered into sweet eternal rest. In addition to her beloved parents, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Shawanna Cumbo.

Our family is a circle of strength and love, with every birth and every union, the circle will grow, every joy shared adds more love, every crisis faced together, makes the circle stronger. Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of: two sisters, Frances Deloatch (Ronald) and Annette Edwards (Jimmy) both of Conway, North Carolina; two brothers, Jeffrey Cumbo (Joyce) of Conway, North Carolina and Karl Cumbo (Sheila) of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; two aunts, Clara Deloatch of Conway, North Carolina and Clorine Spruill (Bruce) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; a special friend, Charlie ‘Ed’ Johnson; a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Relatives and Friends are encouraged to visit Ms. Cumbo's tribute wall to share memories, extend condolences and to order floral tributes, as sentiments to the family.
