Oscar 'Red' Bynum Obituary

Weep not for me though I am gone, Into that gentle night.

Grieve if you will, but not for long, Upon my soul’s sweet flight.

I am at peace, my soul’s at rest, There is no need for tears.

For with your love I was so blessed, For all those many years.

There is no pain, I suffer not, The fear now all is gone.

Put now these things out of your thoughts, In your memory I live on.

Remember not the strife. Please do not dwell upon my death,

But celebrate my life.

Oscar Junior Bynum, was born on Saturday, March 5th, 1960 in Northampton County, North Carolina to the parentage of the late Wallace and Elizabeth Branch Bynum.

‘Red’, as he was affectionately called by his loving family and friends, was educated in the public schools of Northampton County, where he graduated from NCHS-East, class of 1978. After which, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving as a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic for 7 years. During his service, Oscar was stationed in Germany, Georgia and finally at Fort Bragg, where he was medically retired. After his retirement, he worked as a Mechanic and eventually became a Government Contracted Mechanic. Subsequently, Oscar was able to fulfill his passion for drag-racing mustangs, repairing cars and spending quality time with loved ones.

On Saturday, October 28th, 2023, our dear loved one departed this earthly life, while in the care of FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital - Hoke, Raeford, North Carolina. In addition to his parents, Oscar was predeceased by his sister, Annie Bynum.
