   Percy Powell, Jr. departed this life on Tuesday, April 14th, 2026, while in the care of ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina, and was called to his final resting place. He was born on Thursday, July 31st, 1947, in Southampton County (Boykins), Virginia, to the late Percy Powell, Sr. and Francis Peebles Powell. He later relocated to New York, where he spent his formative and young adult years, shaping the foundation of a life well lived.

Percy lived a full and vibrant life, always engaged in the things he loved most. By trade, he was a skilled mechanic who took great pride in his work, often offering advice and dedicating himself to building and restoring automobiles from the engine to the interior. Beyond his profession, Percy had a deep passion for music, dancing, racing, singing, martial arts, and motorcycling—ensuring there was never a dull moment in his presence.

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Shetora Myrick.

He leaves behind a legacy to be cherished by his loving family, including his four daughters, Joyce Ann Deans, Sharon Nissen, and Michelle Fenton, along with his daughter-at-heart, Adina Sears. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren—Quay Deans, Nicholas Darden, Victoria Nissen, JaQuan Myrick, Eycez Boone, Sean Dillard, Kilomonta Boone, Randal Holmes, Jr., ShaDiamond Myrick, and Montavius Newsome—as well as seven great-grandchildren. Percy was further blessed with six sisters, Catherine Brown, Ella Parker, Lois Towsell, Shirley Boyer, Nancy Powell, Patricia Stancil, and Stephanie Powell, and two brothers, Tommy Powell and Stephan Powell. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
