Peter McGalliaria, III Obituary

Yea thou I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table for me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

- Psalms 23: 4-6

Peter Thomas McGalliaria, III the son of Peter Thomas McGalliaria, Jr. and the late Shirley Salome Moody was born on Thursday, March 27, 1969 in Orlando, Florida.

Early in life, Peter was baptized and he united in fellowship with the Dupont Park Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church of Washington, DC. It was there that his love for God was deepened and spiritual gifts nurtured. He was a God-fearing man, who loved the Lord and took his relationship with the Lord very seriously. He attended Dupont Park SDA Elementary and Middle Schools in Washington, DC. He graduated from Gwynn Park High School, Brandywine, Maryland. As life progressed, Peter relocated to North Carolina, where he matriculated at Halifax Community College, Weldon, North Carolina.

Peter had a love for classic cars, attending car shows and comedy shows. He found great joy in playing PlayStation, Phase 10 and board games with his family. Peter loved traveling to visit with his family and close friends, and listening to music - GoGo was his favorite. Lastly, he loved the sport of football and watching the games, as he was an avid Washington Redskins fan - oh how he loved watching them play!

“In tears we saw you sinking, we saw you fade away. You suffered much in silence, you fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage, your spirit did not bend. But you still kept on fighting, until the very end. God saw you getting tired, when a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you; and whispered ‘Come to me!’ On Sunday, January 23, 2022; while in the care of Atrium Health-Wake Forest Baptist-HighPoint Medical Center, High Point, North Carolina.

We thought of you today, but that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday and the day before that too. We think of you in silence and often speak your name. Now all we have are memories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake, with which we’ll never part. God has you in His keeping and we have you in our hearts: wife, Tonya Cowan McGalliaria of Seaboard, North Carolina; children, Danielle Cowan of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Brielle Cowan, Arielle Cowan and Alexis Whitaker all of Greensboro, North Carolina and Travis Bruce of Washington, DC; brothers, Larnell ‘Cisco’ Graves of Buffalo, New York; father, Peter T.
