Philante' Smith Obituary

“Remembering you is easy, we do it everyday,

Missing you is a heartache, which will never go away.”

Philante' Malik Smith, son of Susie Ann Smith and the late Lynn Person, began his journey through life on Saturday, January 2, 1993, in Halifax County, North Carolina.

Philante' was a very energetic young man, who possessed strength and tenacity. He was one of the strongest individuals, we know. Although his health presented many challenges, he lived his life the best that he could. He bore his illness well, never let it get him down and continued to go after the things, in life, that he wanted. Philante' loved his family, with all of his heart. Spending quality time with his family brought him much joy - oh how we remember that laugh! He was a very caring and loving person, who would go out of his way to do what he could to help others, no matter what.

Those of us who knew Philante' best, knew that he not only loved his family; but he also loved his cell phone and listening to music- especially in his car! He cherished his car so much that he always wanted to be on the go.

“After the clouds, the sunshine; after the winter, the spring; After the shower, the rainbow; for life is a changeable thing. After the night, the morning, bidding all darkness cease, After life’s cares and sorrows, the comfort and sweetness of peace.” On Sunday, February 14, 2021; while in the care of Duke University Hospital, Durham, North Carolina, Philante' peacefully slipped into eternal slumber. He now rests in the arms of God, alongside his father, grandmother and other relatives, who have gone on before him.

Our family is a circle of strength and love; with every birth and every union, the circle of love grows - every trial faced together makes the circle grow stronger. We who remain struck by the bitter pain of death, but are assured by the promise of God; that He would wipe all tears from our eyes are: his mother, Susie Smith; sisters, Colleen Smith and Brianna Huetter; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Philante' will be sorely and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was very close to his two youngest nephews, and they loved their uncle very much! He will forever remain in our hearts, but we know that he is now in a better place; where there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
