Reginald Hardy, Sr. Obituary

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.”

~ Psalm 116:15

REGINALD LEON HARDY, SR., 69, of Northampton County, North Carolina, peacefully entered into eternal rest on September 10th, 2025, at 2:13 p.m. at ECU Hospital in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. Born in Northampton County to the late Theodore and Virginia Deloatch, and to Arlene Simmons of Pleasant Hill, North Carolina, Reginald lived a life marked by faith, devotion, and love for his family.

At an early age, Reginald accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at Faithful Band Missionary Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill, North Carolina. He remained a faithful and dedicated servant of the Lord throughout his life, continuously supporting his church family with unwavering commitment until the Lord called him home.

Educated in the Northampton County public school system, Reginald was known for his love of the outdoors and simple pleasures. He found joy in fishing, cutting grass, driving his tractor, and gardening. He also enjoyed coaching baseball, a reflection of his love for mentorship and community. Above all, he treasured spending time with his family and serving God.

Reginald leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion carried on by his loving wife, Christine Hardy, and his beloved children: Minister Tawanda Robinson of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; Andre Robinson of Gaston, North Carolina; Lakeisha Johnson of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; Stewart Hardy of Charlotte, North Carolina; Stephanie Atkinson (Derek) of Huntersville, North Carolina; Reginald Hardy, Jr. (Tramia) of Suffolk, Virginia; Travis Hardy of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; Gregory Hardy of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; Atlantis Jones (Austin) of Charlotte, North Carolina; April Hardy Higginbotham (Julian) of Knightdale, North Carolina; and Leon Smith (Tamika) of Greensboro, North Carolina. He was a joyful and proud grandfather to twenty-eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Reginald is also survived by his loving siblings: Lois (Jeanette) Deloatch of Pleasant Hill, North Carolina; Theo and Maxine Deloatch of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; Fannie and Stony Grant of Halifax, North Carolina; Mac Author and Cassandra Deloatch of Richmond, Virginia; Herbert and Tammy Deloatch of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; Gilbert and Leah Deloatch of Pleasant Hill, North Carolina; and Alvester and Evelyn Deloatch of Garysburg, North Carolina. He also leaves behind his aunt, Shirleen Starks; his great aunt, Ethel Darden; a special grandchild he lovingly reared as his own, Aniyah Smith; and a niece he reared as his own, Sonya Deloatch.

Reginald’s life was a testament to faith, family, and service. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.
