Robert Daniel Davis, Jr., embarked on his life’s journey on Saturday, August 27th, 1932, in Emporia, Virginia, born to the late Robert Davis Sr. and Elizabeth Faison Davis.
Fondly known as ‘Dick’ to his cherished family and friends, he grew up in a hardworking farming family on Low Ground Road and received his education from the Greensville County, Virginia public school system. Additionally, he pursued higher education at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Serving in the Air Force, Robert became a veteran and later achieved a successful 30+ year career in the food service industry, reaching the pinnacle as a lead chef within the Marriott hotel system in northern Virginia.
Even during recent hospital stays, Robert maintained his sense of humor and an unwavering commitment to immaculate dressing. On Sunday, December 17th, 2023, while under the care of Inova Mount Vernon Hospital, Alexandria, Virginia, the Emporia native peacefully departed this earthly life at the blessed age of 91. Preceding him in death were his parents, his beloved wife Nona, former spouse Eula, and three brothers, Wade, Roscoe and Alvin Davis.
Robert leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories, survived by three sons, Robert D. Davis III (Earline), Rueal Davis and Ivan D. Davis (Mala); two daughters, Cynthia D. Sherin (Sherman) and Alicia Keys; ten grandchildren, Joclynn Richardson (Phillip), Robert D. Davis IV (Crystal), Alexander Davis, Tabina Clark, Elizabeth Davis, James Davis (Shalakia), Sherman Sherin II, Rueal Daniels (Ariah), Myaisia Keys and Ishani Davis; along with seven great-grandchildren. He is also remembered by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
