One glad morning when this life is over, I’ll fly away.
To a home on God’s celestial shore, I’ll fly away.
In the morning when I die Hallelujah bye and bye, I’ll fly away…
Robert Glenn Deloatch, son of the late Robert Lee Deloatch and Dorothy Edwards Deloatch, was born on Tuesday, December 25, 1951 in the Allen Chapel Community of Northampton County, North Carolina.
‘Pat’, as he was fondly called by his loving family and friends, was educated in the Northampton County Public School System, where he attended Jackson Eastside Elementary School and graduated from Gumberry High School - Class of 1970. ‘Pat’ was no stranger to hard work. For several years, he was employed with Framo Industries of Murfreesboro, North Carolina. He later became gainfully employed with Union Camp, where he worked for over forty years.
‘Pat’ never met a stranger and was loved by everyone he came into contact with. One of his most endearing traits was that he was a fun and loving person. He truly cherished his family and friends; especially his grandkids, whom he spoiled. His commitment to family extended to his siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends alike. He willingly shared what he had, be it words of advice, jokes, visits or food. ‘Pat’ always had a joke or funny story to tell. His jovial spirit was accompanied by the ability to cook - which was one of his favorite pastimes. He was a grill master! His tasty dishes tempted the palates of many - he truly loved to cook.
Early Monday, November 21, 2022; while in the care of ECU Health Medical Center of Greenville, North Carolina, Robert Glenn Deloatch quietly transitioned from this earthly life unto eternal life.
Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of: his wife, Shirley Ann Long Deloatch of the home; three daughters-at-heart, Gloria Long and Antionette Long both of Seaboard, North Carolina and Shelia Long of Margarettsville, North Carolina; seven grandchildren-at-heart; eighteen great-grandchildren-at-heart; his siblings, Jasper Deloatch of Hampton, Virginia and Lorraine Knapper of Jackson, North Carolina; a special cousin, Alphonza Edwards (Phyllis) of Jackson, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Minister Maybelle Gay of Newburgh, New York and Irene Lassiter of Suffolk, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
