Ronnie Lewis Ingram

Memories are treasures no one can steal. Death is the heartache nothing

can heal. Some may forget you now that you are gone, But we shall

remember you no matter how long.

Today, we pause to celebrate the life and legacy of Ronnie Lewis Ingram, affectionately known as “Piper,” who was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 21st, 2024. Ronnie was born on Thursday, February 2nd, 1961, in Northampton County, North Carolina, to the late Johnnie and Pattie Ingram.

At an early age, Ronnie accepted Christ and became a member of Cool Spring Missionary Baptist Church. He attended Gaston High School, where he was an active member of the football team. After graduating, Ronnie began working with JP Stevens before discovering his passion for bricklaying, becoming a Master Bricklayer, a skill he proudly honed and shared with others.

Above all, Ronnie cherished his family. His granddaughter, Takari Williams, brought him immeasurable joy, and she held a special place in his heart. Ronnie also loved spending time outdoors-whether it was cutting grass, fishing, or caring for his dogs, he found peace in these simple pleasures. His bright personality and infectious laughter made him a beloved figure among his family, friends, and community.

In addition to his loving parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by two sisters, Artist James and Donna’ Ann Ingram.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Dorothy Powell Ingram of Jackson, North Carolina; two daughters, DeElle Underdue of Charlotte, North Carolina and Panell Powell of Greenville, North Carolina; son-at-heart, Jarvous Powell of Jackson, North Carolina, whom he lovingly reared as his own; his beloved granddaughter and apple of his eye, Takari Williams; his siblings, Johnnie Ingram (Rhonda) of Gaston, North Carolina (his twin), Barry Ingram of River Vale, New Jersey and Maud Ingram of Nashville, North Carolina; three aunts, Reverend Mertis Jackson and Barbara Garner both of Gaston, North Carolina and Belinda Joyner of Garysburg, North Carolina; bonus dad, George Owens of Gaston, North Carolina; god daughter, Octavia Davis of Paterson, New Jersey; four nephews, Leviticus James of Paterson, New Jersey, Antione Gibbs of Raleigh, North Carolina, Johnnie Ingram Jr. of Gaston, North Carolina and Maudquise Ingram of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; a host of other family members, cousins, and friends, including his special friend, Rosa Robinson of Gaston, North Carolina.

Ronnie’s life was a testament to love, joy, and the importance of family. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of calling him family or friend.
