Obituary

Remembering Roy Lee…

“And those God predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; He also glorified,”

~ Romans 8: 30

Roy Lee Boone, was predestined to return to the creator, at a time such as August 20, 2023 at 10:29 p.m., where he transitioned peacefully at Northampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jackson, North Carolina. His life was seasoned with purpose, love and family. He celebrated 85 years of this life, 12 days prior to his return to the creator.

Roy Lee’s destiny in this life has been fulfilled. Roy Lee began his journey through life on August 8, 1938 in Seaboard, North Carolina, the fifth of eight children born to the union of John and Anna Boone. He was educated in the Northampton County Public School System. At an early age, Roy Lee claimed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour and united in Christian Fellowship with the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Margarettsville, North Carolina.

As a young man and well into his later years, Roy Lee maintained a job and was always available to help his family and friends. He was best known for his green thumb and could grow mostly anything. During his career, he worked as a tobacco farmer in Farmville, North Carolina and Cary Lumber in Gaston, North Carolina; until impaired health necessitated his early retirement, at the age of 60.

In addition to his parents, Roy Lee is preceded in death by: one sister, Virginia Jones and four brothers, Lawrence Boone, James Boone, Walter Boone and Joseph Boone.

Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of: his daughter, Kathy Price of Hammonton, New Jersey; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Dorothy B. Kidd of Garysburg, North Carolina; his brother, John Boone (Lillie Mae) of Richamond, Virginia; sister-in-law, Lillian K. Boone of Pleasant Hill, North Carolina; Brenda Bing, daughter of his life partner, Mattie Scott; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

We ask of all who knew our beloved, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, to praise God for his life and the fulfillment of his great purpose on this earth!
