Sadie Luellen Chadwick-Carter

Mrs. Sadie Luellen Chadwick-Carter, lovingly known to many as Mrs. Sadie, departed this life on Sunday, May 24th, 2026, at the age of 61. She was born on Friday, November 13, 1964, in Beaufort, North Carolina, to the parentage of the late Edward Menton Chadwick III and Sadie Olivia Hyman Chadwick.

Sadie was educated in the Carteret County School System and graduated with the Class of 1983 from East Carteret High School in Beaufort, North Carolina. Determined to pursue her passion for culinary arts, she later moved to Maryland to further her education and fulfill her dreams. Sadie earned her Culinary Degree from Johnson & Wales University in 2000 and continued her studies at Baltimore International College, where she received a degree in Culinary Arts Management in 2002. Never ceasing her pursuit of knowledge and spiritual growth, she later earned a Degree in Theology from Theos Chrisma Theological Institute in 2024.

At an early age, Sadie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. After relocating to Maryland, she joined Truth and Life Family Worship Center under the leadership of Pastor Darryl K. Ham. Sadie faithfully served in ministry as a worshipper, prayer warrior, teacher, and choir member. Whatever she could do for Christ, she did wholeheartedly. Her life reflected her deep love for God, and many will always remember her favorite saying: “Get your mind right.”

As life progressed, Sadie was united in marriage to LaVon Carter, Jr. Together they shared many years and memories. In addition to her love for ministry and family, Sadie was a gifted entrepreneur and creative spirit. She founded L’Huere DuBain Homemade Bath Products, where she handcrafted soaps, room sprays, candles, soak beads, and bath scrubs that brought comfort and joy to many.

Sadie was preceded in death by her beloved daughters, Chiquandria Ambrielle Carter and Tatianya Venyke Carter; her parents, Edward Menton Chadwick III and Sadie Olivia Hyman Chadwick. and her brothers, Edward M. Chadwick IV, Malvern R. Chadwick and Deremius G. Chadwick.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband, LaVon Carter Jr. of Ohio; her sisters, Tonya C. Godette of Morehead City, North Carolina, and Avonya L. Chadwick of Beaufort, North Carolina; her sister-in-law, Teresa Chadwick of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; her aunt; Norma Holland of Beaufort, North Carolina; her best friend and sister of the heart, Lisa Tann New of Baltimore, Maryland; her goddaughters, Sylvia, Mercedes, Chandele, and Gabrielle; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and dear friends from North Carolina to Maryland. Sadie’s legacy of faith, perseverance, love, wisdom, and service will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
