I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
~ II Timothy 4:7-8
Sandra Lynn Johnson, was born on Tuesday, August 4, 1970 in Ahoskie (Hertford County), North Carolina to the parentage of the late Clinton George Johnson and Ann Marie Hill Johnson.
Sandra was educated in the Northampton County Public School System - attending Willis Hare Elementary School, Conway Middle School and ultimately graduated from Northampton County High School - East. Early in life, Sandra gained employment with Severn Peanut Company. As life progressed, she became employed with Regional In-Home Health, as a Personal Care Assistant and Private Duty Caregiver. Helping others brought Sandra great joy! In her leisure, she enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, watching soap operas, playing games on her tablet and shopping. Sandra was known for her love for cooking and sharing her tasty dishes with others.
“...If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” (Matthew 16: 24) Sandra professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, as she was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church - Severn. She served faithfully in many capacities until her health declined. She was a woman of strong faith and a true prayer warrior.
She’s in the sun, the wind, the rain, she’s in the air you breathe with every breath you take. She sings a song of hope and cheer, there’s no more pain, no more fear. You’ll see her in the clouds above, hear her whisper words of love, you’ll be together before long, until then listen for her song. On Sunday, July 30, 2023; while in the care of ECU Roanoke Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family, Sandra peacefully transitioned from this earthly life unto sweet eternal rest. In addition to her loving parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Wesley Walker, Jr.
“Your life was full of loving deeds, forever thoughtful of our special needs. Today and tomorrow, our whole life through, we will always love and cherish you.” Her sweet spirit, caring heart and generosity will long be remembered by all those whose lives she touched: one daughter, Kimberly Sledge of Ahoskie, North Carolina; three sons, Greg Johnson and Layshawn Johnson both of the home and Tony Sledge, Jr. of Como, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Jhasmine Johnson, A’mariah Rawlings, Greg Dawson, Trinity Watson and Arianna Barron; one sister, Ola Midgett (Steve) of Capitol Heights, Maryland; one brother, Ricky Walker of Como, North Carolina; five aunts, Mary Johnson and Dorothy Johnson both of Paterson, New Jersey, Christine Fields (David) of Summerville, South Carolina, Rosa Johnson of Jackson, North Carolina and Ellen Bethea of Pendleton, North Carolina; one uncle, Roosevelt Grant of Boykins, Virginia; two nieces, Jessica Walker and Shanta Walker; two nephews, Craig Walker (Brandy) and Brian Midgett, Jr.; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, god-children, relatives and friends.
