“All my life YOU have been faithful. All my life YOU have been so, so good.
With every breath that I am able, I will sing of the goodness of God. ”
SANDRA EARLINE JOYNER, born to the late Ethel V. Joyner and James Bottoms on Thursday, January 29th, 1959, in Severn, North Carolina, peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 20th, 2024, at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina.
Sandra, a proud graduate of Northampton County High School - East, early on found solace and community at First Baptist Church Severn, where she remained a dedicated member. Her commitment extended to serving on the FBC Severn Call For A Cure campaign committee and actively participating in fundraising events for the Northampton County Relay For Life.
Known affectionately as ‘Sanna,’ Sandra embodied love and care in its purest form. She found joy in simple pleasures —fishing, harvesting fresh food from the garden, exploring yard sales, and thrift shopping. Sandra cherished phone conversations with her girls, took delight in cooking, and dedicated herself to helping others. Her most cherished role was that of a nurturing grandmother to her grandsons, Shane, Boo - Boo, and Juno, ensuring their safety and happiness. She enjoyed dressing up, styling hair, and that BOOTBOI! She loved to see him behaving. Sandra's proud smile on Bootboi's wedding day reflected the love and pride she held for her family. Beyond her nurturing spirit, Sandra was a woman of many talents.
From her exceptional culinary skills to her generosity in feeding the hungry, Sandra left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her love and warmth will be deeply missed, leaving behind a legacy of an incredible mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and hardworking woman. In addition to her mother and father, Sandra was preceded in death by her daughter, Regina M. Joyner; two sisters, Katherine Joyner and Rosa Joyner and four brothers, Earl and Dewayne Joyner, Jesse and James C. Bottoms.
To cherish her memory, Sandra leaves behind her daughter, Tadeshia Joyner; son, Rufus Flythe, Jr. (Deborah); grandchildren, Shane Bynum, Rufus Flythe, III, Joshua Flythe, Nigel Hall, Jewel Hall, and Ja ’Brea Bloodworth; her loving companion, Larry Deloatch; siblings, Lawrence Joyner (Essie), Stanley Joyner (Mary Ann), Loisteen Ponton, Glenace Joyner, Minester Joyner -Thomas (William), JoAnn Joyner -Lloyd (Gregory), Joangelia Joyner, Paula Joyner, Emma Banks, Hattie Blythe, Callonia Lewis, Dottie Earquhart, Priscilla Manley, Robert Bottoms, Rocky Bottoms, Annie Lou Bottoms, Sha’ron Bottoms, Gloria Bottoms, Shirley Jordan, Richard Deloatch, and Beverly Dobson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Sandra's legacy of love and warmth will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she now rest in eternal peace in the Master ’s Hands.
