Remembering Kay...
“Remembering you is easy, we do it everyday,
Missing you is a heartache, which will never go away.”
Sharon Kay Buffaloe-Harris, the daughter of Susie Coker Buffaloe and the late Thomas E. Buffaloe, Sr. was born on Friday, October 5, 1956 in Gumberry, North Carolina.
Kay, as she was affectionately known, received her early education from the Northampton County Public School System, where she graduated from Gumberry High School in 1974. She attended Halifax Community College, after which she joined the workforce. Kay retired from Fountain Correctional Center for Women in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. While at Fountain Correctional Center, she received many accolades and reached the position of Correctional Lieutenant, prior to retirement.
At a tender age, Kay was baptized at Roanoke Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Garysburg, North Carolina. She was an active member of the church; serving as the church secretary, until relocating to Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
On November 28, 1999, Sharon united in Holy Matrimony to Donald O. Harris in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
God looked around His garden and found an empty place. He then looked down upon the Earth and saw your tired face. He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest at 1:35pm on May 10, 2021 from Vidant Medical Center. God’s garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew that you were in pain, He knew that you would never get well on Earth again. He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb so He closed your weary eyelids and whispered, “Peace be thine” It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone for part of us went with you the day God called you home. In addition to her father, Sharon was preceded in death by: her granddaughter, Jac’Quaja Buffaloe; her sister, Clara Buffaloe-Darden and her brother, Thomas E. Buffaloe, Jr.
Sharon’s sweet spirit, caring heart and generosity will long be remembered by all those whose lives she touched.
