Shelia (White) Ponton

Shelia White Ponton, daughter of the late George and Lucille White, was born on Tuesday, February 11, 1958 in Northampton County (Seaboard), North Carolina.

Shelia was educated in the Northampton County Public School System. On Wednesday, September 16, 1981, she dedicated her life to Jehovah, as one of his witnesses and continued to faithfully serve him until her demise. She made her career caring for and taking care of others. You could not meet her and not fall in love with her. Shelia was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She had several hobbies, which included, crocheting and working on her doll houses. Whenever you visited her home, she would say, “Come here and let me show you something.” She just had to show it off. She also adored caring for her dog, Peppy. Her passion was cooking. You haven’t eaten good unless you’ve had one of her delicious meals; decadent cakes and pies, and of course, her famous mouth-watering homemade rolls.

On Sunday, November 6, 2022, our dear loved one fell asleep in death; while at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina. In addition to her parents, Shelia was preceded in death by: her beloved husband, Raymond L. Ponton, Sr.; one great-granddaughter, Kalani T. Bullock and two brothers, Alphonso Britt and Leonard White.

Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of: three loving children, Teresa Ponton Bullock of Emporia, Virginia, Stephanie Ponton Martin of Pleasant Hill, North Carolina and Raymond L. Ponton, Jr. of Raleigh, North Carolina; four adorable grandchildren, Ray-Qwane Bullock, Ty-Reke Bullock both of Emporia, Virginia, Donté Martin of Pleasant Hill, North Carolina and Trémond Ponton of Chesapeake, Virginia; her siblings, George W. White of Eden, North Carolina, Ella Louise Washington of Waycross, Georgia, Emma Whitby (Robert) of Weldon, North Carolina, Ernestine Gay of Richmond, Virginia, Leah Boone (Randolph) of Seaboard, North Carolina, John White of Knightdale, North Carolina, Eva Rogers (Ronald) of Raleigh, North Carolina and Nancy Ruffin (Johnny) of Dallas, Texas; two special friends, Mildred Faison and Monica Hall; niecesat-heart, Malia Hall and Aniya Ford; a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
