Shirley Jordan Obituary

Shirley Ann Peebles Jordan, a beloved daughter of Esther Lee Mitchell Battle and the late Miles Peebles, began her journey through life on Tuesday, September 30, 1958, in Halifax County, North Carolina.

Shirley Ann was educated in the public schools of Northampton County. She soon grew and blossomed into a sweet and compassionate young lady. She believed in God; the Father Almighty, who created heaven and earth. Although her health presented many challenges through the years, Shirley Ann possessed strong faith in Christ and did not waiver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, always acknowledging his presence.

No stranger to hard work, Shirley Ann worked for a number of years with the Department of Corrections.

“Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences and penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.” (Maya Angelou) Early in life, Shirley Ann found love when she met and married, the love of her life, Lloyd Randolph Jordan. The two became one and they began to build a life together in Margarettsville, North Carolina. This union was blessed with three beautiful daughters.

As a beloved, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend, Shirley Ann enjoyed spending time with her family. She embraced the natural beauty of the world and had a strong passion for helping anyone she could. Her favorite pass times included: solving sudoku and crossword puzzles, watching HGTV and Soap Operas (Bold & The Beautiful).

“After the clouds, the sunshine; after the winter, the spring; After the shower, the rainbow; for life is a changeable thing. After the night, the morning, bidding all darkness cease, After life’s cares and sorrows, the comfort and sweetness of peace.” While in the care of UNC - Hospital, Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Shirley Ann Peebles Jordan, transitioned from this earthly life, until sweet eternal rest. In addition to her father, she is now reunited with her loved ones who have gone on before.
