Sierra Bottoms Obituary

Remembering Sierra...

“Remembering you is easy, we do it everyday

Missing you is a heartache, which will never go away.”

On Monday, May 17, 1986, in Halifax County, North Carolina, a beautiful baby girl was born to the loving care of Curtis Buffaloe and the late Lois Bottoms. Sierra Michelle Bottoms, beloved, mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, aunt and friend, was educated in the Northampton County Public School System. She furthered her studies and later became a Personal Care Assistance Professional.

Sierra grew and developed into a sweet and compassionate young lady, who met no stranger! She was known for her angelic and infectious smile that could easily brighten anyone’s day. Her smile was accompanied by a warm and bubbly personality, along with a great fashion sense. Sierra loved to look good - always wearing her makeup and lashes. She took great pride in her appearance - a trait she acquired from her mother, Lois. Sierra was a beautiful person both internally and externally, who had an unconditional love for her family and friends. She was a great supporter of others, who may have been dealing with their own personal struggles.. She was a sweet spirit, who possessed a thankful heart for the things God gave her - whether big or small. To know her was to love her and she was known by many throughout!

Although her health presented many challenges, Sierra’s faith did not waiver. She love the Lord with all her heart and remained steadfast. She was blessed to have the opportunity to be under the tutelage of great leaders at Macedonia A.M.E. Church in Pendleton, North Carolina and Pillars of the Word Ministries in Newport News, Virginia.

Sierra was a proud mother to her handsome son, Jaymarion; whom she loved dearly! She resided in Pendleton, North Carolina, with her beloved grandmother, Audrey Bottoms and also in New Bern, North Carolina.

Wings...Are carved surfaces that lift…Wings enable you to soar beyond all your selfimposed restrictions and take you to the lofty heights you dare to dream of. Wings can offer protection and comfort, as in “under one’s wing.” Wings remind us of the angels that guard and guide us from above, and of those angels that walk among us. Wings remind us that it is in our power to be an angel to the next person, who may just happen to need one. Anything is possible, when you have wings. On Thursday, January 14, 2021, Sierra gained her heavenly wings. In addition to her mother, Lois, she is now reunited with her paternal grandmother, Rocky Lee Buffaloe; maternal grandfather, Columbus Bottoms and all those family members whom preceded her in death.

Treasured memories of love will forever be bound within our hearts as we pass her to God’s keeping and care are: her son, Jaymarion C. Jones of the home; father, Curtis Buffaloe of Fort Worth, Texas; maternal grandmother, Audrey Bottoms of Pendleton, North Carolina; paternal grandfather, George Buffaloe of Seaboard, North Carolina; sisters, Lequetta Bottoms of New Bern, North Carolina and Sabrina Bottoms of Conway, North Carolina; brother, Byron Bottoms of Conway, North Carolina; aunts, Ernestine Rodgers (Willie) and Verlie Long (Barbie) all of Pendleton, North Carolina, Mozelle Rodgers of Chesapeake, Virginia, Veronica Buffaloe-Wilder, (Sean), of Greenville, North Carolina; Sylvia Ann Anderson of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; uncles, Stafford Bottoms (Jent) of Conway, North Carolina, George Buffaloe, Jr. of Hampton, Virginia and Brandon Buffaloe of Seaboard, North Carolina; nieces, Saquita and Kaniyah; nephews, Kemaurien, Travon and Isuan; Godmother, Dr. Christine Stephenson; a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends
