Steven Vaughan Obituary

Love...Beareth all things, believeth all things,

hopeth all things, endureth all things.

~ 1 Corinthians 13:7

STEVEN CRAIG VAUGHAN, age 54, of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 24th, 2024. Born to Fred L. Vaughan and Gloria Cloyd, Steven's life was a celebration of family, service, and faith.

From a young age, Steven’s life was rooted in spirituality, being baptized at New Haven Baptist Church in Murfreesboro. His faith guided him through life’s journey. During his years at Murfreesboro High School, where he graduated in 1988, Steven excelled as a varsity football star, showcasing his dedication, leadership, and athletic prowess.

Following high school, Steven answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Air Force. He served with honor during Operation Desert Storm, earning the Southwest Asia Service Medal and the Humanitarian Service Medal for his courageous efforts. After being honorably discharged, Steven returned to North Carolina, where he found joy in simple pleasures —cooking, fishing, and listening to sermons, especially those by Tony Evans.

Steven was preceded in death by his stepfather, James H. Cloyd, and his uncle, Randolph Williams. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his surviving family: his devoted mother, Gloria Cloyd of Woodland, NC, and his father, Fred L. Vaughan of Murfreesboro, NC. He is also survived by four brothers, Gary Vaughan of Wakefield, VA; Tony Eley of Raleigh, NC; Calvin Vaughan (Jeanette) of Charlotte, NC; Ronald Vaughan (Heather) of Florida; and two sisters, LaShonda Vaughan of Woodland, NC, and Katrina Vaughan of Murfreesboro, NC. Additionally, Steven is remembered fondly by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Steven’s life was a testament to the power of service, kindness, and unwavering faith. His memory will forever be cherished by all who knew him. Rest in peace, Steven.
