Timothy Dickerson, Sr. Obituary

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death,

neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

~Revelation 1: 4

Timothy Jackson Dickerson, Sr., was born on Thursday, October 9, 1958 in Jackson, North Carolina to the parentage of the late Robert ‘Bob’ Porter and Lilly Helen Williams. He was reared in the Galatia Community of Northampton County by the late John and Bessie Dickerson.

Tim, as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, was educated in the Northampton County Public School System; graduating from Northampton High School in 1976. He matriculated at Livingston College in Salisbury, North Carolina.

Tim enjoyed working on the family farm, until his health prevented him from doing so. He found great joy in hunting and cooking. If Tim wasn’t hunting or cooking, you could find him kicked back, watching his favorite football team - The Pittsburgh Steelers!

“In tears we saw you sinking, we saw you fade away. You suffered much in silence, you fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage, your spirit did not bend. But you still kept on fighting, until the very end.” On Sunday, February 27, 2022, our Lord and Savior peacefully dispatched his divine angels to give our dear loved one peace that only comes from the true vine. While in the care of Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, North Carolina holding the hand of his longtime friend and loving wife, Brenda, Tim answered the master’s call from time to eternity. He now is reunited with those who preceded him in death.

“The clock of life is wound but once, And no one has the power, To tell just where the hands will stop, At late or early hour. To lose ones wealth is sad indeed, To lose one’s health is more, To lose one’s soul is such a loss, As no one can restore. The present only is our own, Live, love, toil with a will, Place no faith in tomorrow, For the clock may then be still.” We, who are bound by treasured ties of affection and love, as we pass him to God’s keeping are: his loving wife, Brenda Lee Dickerson of the home; daughter, Jessica Marie Dickerson of Lasker, North Carolina; Timothy ‘TJ’ Dickerson, Jr. (Kim) of Franklin, Virginia; his beloved grandchildren, DaNaijha Dickerson, Tyreik Dickerson, Jayden Lassiter, Skylar Dickerson, Dynasty Dickerson and Jaxson Dickerson; a special great-grandchild, born on March 3, 2022; sisters, Helen Ann Williams of New Jersey, Shirley Ramsey (Grover) of Garysburg, North Carolina and Gilda Jackson (Harry) of Pendleton, North Carolina; brothers, James A. ‘Bull’ Williams of New Jersey, Jimmy Cotton, Sr. (Samyra) of New Castle, Delaware and Anthony Cotton (Lori) of Garysburg, North Carolina; aunts, Carolyn Jenkins, Shirley Williams and Dorothy Buffaloe all of New Jersey, Josephine Black of Virginia, Ethel Fennel and Deloris Williams both of Maryland and Barbara Williams of New York; uncle, George Williams of New Jersey; daughter-in-law, Topeka Dickerson; loving sisters-in-law, Patricia Dickerson, Theresa Carter, Shanna Dickerson and Phyllis Dickerson, whom he helped to care for; brothers-in-law, Antonio Bynum, Raymond ‘JR’ Dickerson and Clinton Dickerson; special cousins, Sam Boone and Frank ‘Rooster’ Deloatch, Jr.; close friends, Donnell Gay, Sherman Mizelle and Raymond Mann; a host of other loving relatives and friends.

"Weary of Life, the battle is won. He’ll understand and say, Well done.”
