Tony Brown Obituary

”Sad is the parting, no one can tell: So sudden on earth the sorrow fell,

The blow was hard, the shock severe; To part with one we love so dear.

Dearer still, as days depart; Our loved one’s memory will forever live within our hearts!”

Tony Neal Brown, son of the late Frank H. Brown and Gladys Mae Boone Brown, was born on Friday, July 17, 1964 in Northampton County, North Carolina. He began his educational journey by attending the public schools of Northampton County.

Later in life he became gainfully employed, for years, as a Heavy Equipment Operator with Long Farms. Tony could operate almost “any” type of heavy equipment, before his health began to fail.

Tony grew and developed into a compassionate man with a loving heart - who loved and adored his daughter and his grandchildren. Additionally, he had a passion for fishing and playing basketball, in his younger days. Tony was an excellent cook and often cooked big meals that he would share with others, just the way his mother used to do. Tony really had a big heart and was an all around friendly person, who loved to laugh. He enjoyed being around family and friends.

“The clock of life is wound but once, And no one has the power, To tell just where the hands will stop, At late or early hour. To lose ones wealth is sad indeed, To lose one’s health is more, To lose one’s soul is such a loss, As no one can restore. The present only is our own, Live, love, toil with a will, Place no faith in tomorrow, For the clock may then be still.” Tony’s transition from time to eternity took place on Monday, September 21, 2020, the tenth anniversary of his mother’s passing. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, James.

We thought of you today, but that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday and the day before that too. We think of you in silence and often speak your name. Now all we have are memories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake, with which we’ll never part. God has you in His keeping and we have you in our hearts: daughter, Colleen Smith; grandchildren, Samajah Rooks, Julius Rooks and Zymari Brown all of Greenville, North Carolina; siblings, Marian Brown Mason and Carrie Brown both of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Frank McCoy Brown (Sandra) and Calvin Brown (Marian) all of Margarettsville, North Carolina, William Brown (Yvonne) of Garysburg, North Carolina, Thomas Brown and Edward Charles Brown (Helen) all of Seaboard, North Carolina and Jackie Neal (Kevin) of Jackson, North Carolina; four aunts; two uncles; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
