On October 30, 2020, God called Virginia home to enter peaceful rest. She was born March 2, 1933 to the late Rodney Ingram and Beatrice Lashley in Northampton County, North Carolina. She was a Christian woman and a treasured gift in the Body of Christ.
She grew up in Garysburg, North Carolina in a loving home with her mother, Beatrice (Bea) and her grandparents, Minnie Garner Lashley and John Lashley.
She was educated in the Northampton County Public School System. She later attended Halifax Community College where she studied to become a nurse’s aide. She was employed by the Guardian Care Nursing Home where she adored her job and patients. Virginia retired after working for twenty years.
Early in life, Virginia accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior, was baptized and began her Christian journey at the Cool Spring Missionary Baptist Church in Gaston, North Carolina. She was a faithful, dedicated and supportive member where she served on the Pastor’s Aid Guild Committee until her health began to fail. She absolutely adored her pastor, Bishop Wayne I. Welch. No doubt about it she loved her church and church family.
Virginia was married to her life-long partner and the love of her life, Alfred Pair (now deceased) for sixty-eight years and together they reared nine beautiful children. Virginia was a very sweet and kind person to all who knew her. Her humble and quiet spirit enabled her to become a person you just enjoyed being around. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her hobbies and activities included sewing, traveling with her family, shopping, visiting friends and hanging out with her favorite cousin, Sarah Turner.
Virginia’s loving memory will be cherished by: her devoted children, five loving sons, Alfred Pair, Jr., (Cynthia) of Garysburg, North Carolina, Everette Pair (Barbara) and Julius Pair (Cynthia) of Richmond, Virginia, Reverend Joshua Pair (Kathy) of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Saul Wesley Pair of Gaston, North Carolina; four daughters, Sadie Sykes (Robert) of Garysburg, North Carolina, Rebecca Coles (Reverend Dr. Paul A. Coles) and Cathy Brice (Daniel) of Richmond, Virginia and Alice Harris (Reverend Jerry Harris) of Oxford, North Carolina; a devoted cousin, Sarah Turner, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; a devoted sister in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Webb (Robert) of Skippers, Virginia; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
