Walter Guy Adams, son of the late Luther and Hattie Adams, was born on February 1, 1945 in Emporia, Virginia. He attended the public schools of Greensville County (Virginia). At an early age, he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Skippers, Virginia. He enjoyed traveling to many churches in the surrounding area.
He was united in holy matrimony to Mary Ethel Stewart on July 10, 1965. They recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. This union was blessed with three children.
Walter was employed with Emporia Foundry, Inc. for over 20 years where he made several lifelong friends. Upon his retirement, he cultivated his love of nature. He enjoyed being outside in his garden. His earthly life was as big as the collards, tomatoes and watermelons he grew. He also loved mowing the lawn, fishing with relatives, and sitting under his car port listening to music until the sun went down. When he was indoors, he loved watching John Wayne and other western movies. He was a loving father and a father-figure to many “down the path”. He had a generous spirit and a pleasant personality to all who knew and loved him.
After a hard fought battle with cancer, he quietly departed this life on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at his home in Garysburg, North Carolina. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings John Henry Adams, Irene Phipps, Bertha Mae Powell, and Ida Elizabeth Simmons.
