Willie Roberts Obituary

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying,

neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

~Revelations 21: 4

Willie Lee Roberts, son of the late James Louis Roberts and Louise Harris Roberts, began his journey through life on Friday, July 19, 1940 in Gumberry (Northampton County), North Carolina.

Early in life, Willie accepted Christ and united in Christian fellowship with Boones Chapel Baptist Church in Jackson, North Carolina. He was educated in the Northampton County Public School System. As a young adult, Willie relocated to Norfolk, Virginia. He held various jobs during his lifetime. On November 27, 1992, he gained employment with Ditlake Company, as a Lawn Care Professional, Crew Leader and Trainer. He also operated frontend loaders and heavy duty equipment with NAS (Navy Support Activity) at different Marine Bases. Willie was known to be a loyal and dependable employee, receiving many awards and certificates.

On Sunday mornings, Willie enjoyed watching the television ministries. When asked if he prayed, he would reply, “I prey (pray) everyday and I prey (pray) for everybody”. He would listen to conversation and often not reply. He enjoyed family functions, playing checkers, pool and horse-shoes.

Most recently, Willie resided at the Suburban House for Seniors and everyone loved him. On Wednesday, November 24, 2021, God’s angel visited Willie’s home and rescued him from the sickness and troubles of this world. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one sister, Lois V. Roberts and four brothers, Robert L. Roberts, Roosevelt Roberts, Elmo Roberts and Russell T. Roberts.

Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of: his wife, Gracie Mae Buffaloe Roberts of Jackson, North Carolina; his children, Florine R. Parker (Glaston) of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, Herbert Lee Roberts (friend, Shelia) of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Cherice Rena Simmons and Cordario Robert Simmons both of Portsmouth, Virginia; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his siblings, Josephine M.
