Aubry Della Crowell, was born on January 5, 1939, to the late Thomas and Louise Weaver in Northampton County, North Carolina.  Aubry, known by many friends and family as 'Della,' had a heart of gold and was the most humble and sweetest person you could meet.  She received her education from Gumberry Schools in Northampton County, North Carolina.  She accepted Christ at an early age, at her home church, Roanoke Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Garysburg, North Carolina.
Aubry spent many years working on her family farm and devoting her time to serve her church.  She was coated by a smooth singing quartet singer, by the name of Robert Crowell.  She said she was going to get that man - and she did!  She faithfully attended every quartet program where he performed, until he asked for her hand in marriage.  She said "YES" before he finished proposing and they became one on October 18, 1958.  It wasn't long before the union began expanding the Crowell clan and were blessed with two boys.
In 1960, the couple decided to move to Washington, DC for better job opportunities.  A year later they were blessed with another boy and her baby girl some years later.  Aubry found employment within the government of DC, for about 15 years.  She decided to retire so that she could be home full time for her family.  Aubry did a phenomenal job as a mother, daughter, sister, and friend.  She was very devoted to her family and if you knew her, she considered you family!  There was never a hungry mouth around, because Robert supplied the food and Aubry blessed it with her cooking.  Some of her specialties were salt and pepper fried chicken, homemade biscuits, gravy, and sweet potato pie!  She would take her pies straight from the oven to the window, for cooling.  It wasn*t long before the neighbors were gathering around outside of her window.  She loved what she did and you could tell!
In 1995, the family moved back to North Carolina to Aubry's family home in Pleasant Hill. Her parents had become ill and she made sure she was there to take care of them to the end.  Aubry was a devoted member of her home church, but made sure she was right at her husband's side at his home church, Hills Chapel Baptist Church in Jackson, North Carolina.  Everyone you'd ask would tell you she was the same way every time, so nice and sweet!  Aubry begin to have some health complications which later caused her to become bedridden.  Through all her ailments and complications, for many years, she never complained.  You could never tell when something was wrong.  Whenever you called her you could immediately see her smile through the phone.  She made sure her hospital bed was placed by a window for her to look out and a TV big enough for her to enjoy watching her favorite shows and stories.  One of her daily highlights was getting her newspaper and she didn't want to read any stale news! She had to be the first to read it.  She faithfully watched her Washington, DC Redskins whenever they played and would quickly fuss anybody out for talking about them!

Aubry kept her faith through it all and believed that God would always provide.  On Saturday September 9, 2017, Aubry peacefully left her earthly home to go into eternal rest.  No more pain and or leg braces to hold her down.  She is walking around heaven with that bright and loving smile!  In addition to her parents, she was also proceeded in death by her  daughter, Angela 'Neicy' Crowell.
Those left to cherish her memories: her husband, Robert Crowell of the home; three children, Robert 'June' Crowell Jr. (Jean), Gregory 'Greg' Crowell (Tiffany) all of Washington, DC and Edward Crowell of Garysburg, North Carolina; her sister, Catherine 'Cat' Dupree (James) of Garysburg, North Carolina; one brother, Dement Weaver of Lompoc California; a sister-at-heart, Beatrice 'Nell' Coleman of Baltimore, Maryland;  eight grandchildren, Shanice 'Shane' Crowell, Shawnita 'Nee-Nee' Crowell and Shaunte 'Ta-Ta' Crowell all of Garysburg, North Carolina, Nia 'Ne-Ne' Crowell, Robert 'Rah-Rah' Washington, Marvin 'Lucky' Washington, Gregory 'Greg' Bateman and  Reginald 'Reggie' Bateman all of Washington, DC; thirteen great-grandchildren; her devoted caregivers and a special friend, Martha Johnson of Gaston, North Carolina; a host of  nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and loving friends.
