Spencer 'Ray' Magee-Cotton

      Spencer Magee-Cotton,  began his walk of life on November 18, 1954.   He was born in Seaboard, (Northampton County) North Carolina,  to the parentage of the late Spencer R. Cotton, Sr. and Narcissie B. Magee.
    'Ray' as we affectionately called him, relocated to Newark, New Jersey, at the age of 5.  He attended Belmont Runyon Elementary School, Charlton Street School and Malcolm X. Shabazz High School.  He was employed at Aurora Toy Company, Perdue Chicken Company and Anderson Windows.
   'Ray' attended Holy Light Church of God In Christ, in Texas.  It was here that he met his good friend, John Kennedy.  He became a member in 2006.  He worked with the Mission Department, distributing food throughout the city of El Paso.  Before he became disabled, he provided maintenance on the church, as well.  He was recognized for his contributions to the church, when he was a victim of a house fire in 2015 and the church assisted in getting him back on his feet.
     On Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at 2:54 a.m., 'Ray' peacefully passed away at Sierra Medical Center, El Paso, Texas.
     In addition to his parents, 'Ray' was also preceded in death by:  his longtime  companion, Diane Murray; his sister, Gwendolyn 'Wendy' Cotton and his brother-in-law, Donald 'Dawn' Davis.
     'Ray' is survived by: his daughter, Ray-Quell Cotton of Newark, New Jersey;  eight sisters and brothers, Joyce Powell of Mt. Holly, New Jersey, Donnell Cotton of Newark, Jersey, Michael Cotton of El Paso, Texas, Carolyn Mobley of Rockhill, South Carolina,  Sandy Davis of Belleville, New Jersey, Edwin 'Poochie' Cotton of Lodi, California, Bruce 'Skeet' Cotton of Parma, Ohio and Sherry Cotton of Rockhill, South Carolina;     a host other relatives and friends. 
     'Ray' was a very private man.  If you wanted to know his cause of death, he would have told you that it was none of your business.  If you would have asked Diane, she was have told you , but made you promise not to tell 'Ray'.
     A true Scorpio man in nature; 'Ray' was a very dominant and aggressive man, but putty in the hands of his first born niece.  We are so very thankful for all the precious moment that we
